new 1/144 crew sets from NorthStar 07/52

Today I got an email with some really nice figure sets from the Ukrainian company NorthStar.

Here you can find a complete list off all new and existings sets. I can tell, that the quality is very good, I bought two years ago the Kriegsmarine sets and they are really very nice, I would compare them with the German Preiser sets. Shipping from the Ukraine took several weeks but no problems with customs.

Neue Figurensätze von NorthStar

Die Firma NorthStar hat jede Menge neue Figurensets im Maßstab 1/144 angekündigt.
Neben den bestehenden Sets für die Kriegsmarine gibt es jetzt auch moderne US Flugzeugträger Sets und auch was für die Royal Navy.
Alle Sets sind hier aufgelistet.
Ich habe vor zwei Jahren einige Sets direkt in der Ukraine bestellt und kann nur sagen, lief absolut reibungslos und die Figuren haben die gleiche Qualität wie die Figuren von Preiser.

Schienensicherungszug Blücher update 06/52

It is already several weeks ago, that I showed the blueprints from the Streckensicherungszug Blücher.
So it is time to finalize everything. I got the first prototype back from printing and found out, that it still needs a bit more love. Several details had to be optimized and I had to add some new stuff. With the turret of the Panzer IV I´m not 100 % satisfied, but at the moment I do not know how I could get him printed better. The painting is ongoing and the gun for the turret of the Russian T-70. This will be something you have to add later as well, it is such a small diameter, that I could never get it printed.

Bevor ich was Neues anfange, muss ich mal meine ganzen Altlasten fertig stellen. Der Streckensicherungszug Blücher ist eine davon. Ich habe den Prototypen bereits annähernd fertig angemalt, aber er muss doch nochmals überarbeitet werden, bevor er in Serie gehen könnte.

Die Befestigung des Panzer IV Turms war zu massiv, weshalb ich mir ein Loch in die Decke gerissen hatte. Auch einige Details musste ich noch ergänzen. Außerdem wurde das Modell auch ein Millimeter länger, sonst wäre die Plattform zu klein gewesen. Auf dem Foto fehlt noch das Kanonenrohr für den T-70, dieses muss auch später mit dünnem Draht ergänzt werden, da es zum Druck viel zu klein wäre.

After some really busy weeks I found this weekend again time to create something new. At the moment I work on the design for the Büssing KS 25. This an early German fire engine, called Kraftfahrspritze 25 or KS 25. The Germans used Mercedes, Magirus or Büssing for the cabin and frame. The rest of the body was always identical. During the war, this type saw several modifications. For example the lower storage boxes were a big problem, on ruined areas they limited the mobility of the engines. Therefore later they were taken away.

Nachdem ich jetzt schon seit Wochen nicht mehr gepostet habe, melde ich mich mit meinem neuen aktuellen Projekt zurück. Ich kämpfe gerade mit den Rundungen der Büssing Kraftfahrspritze 25. Die Grundkonstruktion ist soweit fertig, es folgen in den nächsten Tagen dann noch die vielen Details, die Leitern und das Führerhaus muss noch etwas verbessert werden. Bei meinen deutschen Lesern, gehe ich davon aus, das die Meisten viel mehr über die verschiedenen Feuerwehrtypen im 3. Reich wissen als ich.

pictures from a old German town 04/52

Today I spent some hours in a old German town (I would call it a village but it has the town rights so, I have to call it a town.) Beautiful old houses and some sunshine made the perfect background for some new projects for dioramas. Some of these houses I will use to build an old German village so that I can use German and American units. Maybe you will see some of the houses soon as 3D designs. But even so I hope the pictures will give you some ideas for details for your own dioramas.

Ich konnte heute mal endlich wieder die Sonne geniessen, nach jede Menge Schnee in den letzten Tagen. So fuhren wir in die Gegend von Freiburg und machten in dieser mittelalterlichen Stadt einen kleinen Stopp. Die alten Häuser haben mich sofort fasziniert und mal sehen, vielleicht werde ich das ein oder andere als 3D Front übernehmen.
