mein zweiter Panzer, japanischer Type 4 Ka-tu Amphibienpanzer
Eigentlich habe ich es nicht so mit Panzer. Die gibt es bereits in Hülle und Fülle von Revell, Dragon, Takom, Victrix und wer weiss nicht noch alles. Die sind um ein Vielfaches besser als meine Zeichnungen. Aber ab und zu, gibt es dann doch noch Lücken, die es lohnt zu füllen. So ging es mir beim Minenräumer auf Basis des Panzers III. Jetzt stelle ich meinen zweiten Panzer vor. Nicht so ganz ein Kampfpanzer, aber ein Spezialfahrzeug. Außerdem kommt das Original aus Japan, da habe ich bis heute noch nichts gezeichnet. Der Amphibien-Panzer wurde im Jahr 1943 in Auftrag gegeben. Die Anforderungen waren im Grunde die Gleichen, wie beim Deutschen Pendant, dem Land-Wasser-Schlepper. Die Japaner benötigten ein Fahrzeug, um die Lücke zwischen Anlandung und Strand zu überbrücken. Als weitere Einsatzmöglichkeit wurde, erwogen, die Panzer mit zwei Torpedos zu bestücken und dann von U-Booten aus Schiffe der amerikanischen Marine anzugreifen. Es wurde insgesamt über 40 Fahrzeuge gebaut, erprobt, aber es gab wohl keinen Kampfeinsatz mehr, da war der Krieg schneller zu Ende. Es gibt heute wohl noch ein paar Fahrzeuge, die halbwegs intakt den Krieg überlebt haben und besichtigt werden können. Mein Modell kommt so, dass die Torpedos auch abgenommen werden können, dann wäre es die Transportvariante. Als weitere Variante kommt auch eine Wasserlinien-Variante des Amphibienpanzers.

I'm not really into tanks. They are already available in abundance from Revell, Dragon, Takom, Victrix and who knows what else. They are many times better than my drawings. But every now and then there are still gaps that are worth filling. That's what happened with the mine sweeper based on the Panzer III. Now I'm presenting my second tank. Not quite a main battle tank, but a special vehicle. What's more, the original comes from Japan, so I haven't drawn anything yet. The amphibious tank was commissioned in 1943. The requirements were basically the same as for the German counterpart, the land-water tractor. The Japanese needed a vehicle to bridge the gap between the landing and the beach. Another option considered was to equip the tanks with two torpedoes and then attack American Navy ships from submarines. A total of over 40 vehicles were built and tested, but there were probably no more combat missions, as the war was over more quickly. Today there are probably still a few vehicles that survived the war reasonably intact and can be viewed. My model comes so that the torpedoes can also be removed, then it would be the transport variant. Another variant is a waterline version of the amphibious tank.
