1/144 französischer Bunker mit Wohnhaus

Weiter geht es mit dem Aufräumen und Fertigstellen von alten "Leichen" auf meinem Basteltisch. Der Druck wird grösser, ich habe mir vorgenommen, zwischen Weihnachten und Neujahr den ganzen Raum aufzuräumen und mal auch wieder alle Flecken auf dem Boden und dem Basteltisch zu beseitigen.

Auch dieses Modell habe ich schon lange gezeichnet und auch schon zum zweiten Mal drucken lassen. Beim ersten Mal war der ganze Druck einfach nur für den Mülleimer, beim zweiten Mal habe ich was Neues geschafft. Die eine Seite wurde spiegelverkehrt gedruckt. Wie das passieren konnte, habe ich bis heute nicht heruasgefunden. Aber ich bin hingegangen, habe alles abgeschliffen, die Fenster und Türöffnungen gespachtet und dann neu lackiert. 

Die französische Armee hatte diese Bunker mit einem Wohnhaus getarnt. Gedacht waren diese Bunker als Wikkommensgruss für die Wehrmacht. Dicht an der Grenze sollten sie den schnellen Vormarsch aufhalten oder zumindest verlangsamen. Also lag es nahe, das Modell an einem Waldweg zu platzieren und eine Grenze zu skizzieren.

I'm continuing to tidy up and finish old “corpses” on my craft table. The pressure is mounting; I've decided to tidy up the whole room between Christmas and New Year and finally get rid of all the stains on the floor and craft table. I drew this model a long time ago and had it printed for the second time. The first time, the entire print was simply thrown in the trash, but the second time I created something new. One side was printed mirror-inverted. I still haven't figured out how that could have happened. But I went ahead and sanded everything down, filled in the window and door openings, and then repainted it. The French army had camouflaged these bunkers with a residential building. These bunkers were intended as a welcome gift for the Wehrmacht. Close to the border, they were supposed to stop or at least slow down the rapid advance. So it made sense to place the model on a forest path and sketch a border.

Am Wochenende war ich auf der französischen Seite des Rheins. Dort gab es bei einem Wassersportverein einen Tag der offenen Tür. Aber der war Nebensache, denn ich sass direkt neben einem Bunker im Gras. Im ersten Augenblick sah man ihn nicht, da der Wassersportverein ihn schön angestrichen hat und eine kleine Kabine auf das Dach gesetzt hat. Trotz der grossen Hitze bin ich dann etwas am Rhein entlang gelaufen und im Bereich von nur wenigen Kilometern habe ich noch weitere Bunker entdeckt. Einige sind leider komplett zugewuchert, andere ziemlich verfallen. Dennoch gabe es aber auch noch ein paar sehenswerte Exemplare. Zum Schluss gab es dann sogar noch ein deutsches Gegenstück. Dieser ist hie ich später herausgefunden habe, sogar noch recht gut erhalten. Leider war er auch Schauplatz eine Kriegsverbrechens zum Ende des Krieges. Die Besatzung eines englischen Bombers wurde abgeschossen und die Überlebenden erschossen.

I was on the French side of the Rhine at the weekend. There was an open day at a water sports club. But that was a minor matter, because I was sitting in the grass right next to a bunker. You couldn't see it at first because the watersports club had painted it nicely and put a small cabin on the roof. Despite the heat, I walked along the Rhine for a while and discovered more bunkers within a few kilometers. Unfortunately, some of them were completely overgrown, others quite dilapidated. Nevertheless, there were still a few worth seeing. Finally, there was even a German counterpart. As I found out later, this one is still quite well preserved. Unfortunately, it was also the scene of a war crime at the end of the war. The crew of an English bomber was shot down and the survivors shot.

1/144 Wochenendhaus auf Französisch

Mein neues Projekt ist ein Haus. Jedoch kein normales Haus im Sinne eines Wohnhauses, sondern im Sinne eines Bunkers. Teil der Maginot-Linie der Franzosen aus dem 2. WK, standen diese Häuser dicht an der Grenze zu Belgien.

Im Original auch «maison fortige des ardennes» genannt, waren dies nichts anderes als Bunker, die wie Wohnhäuser getarnt waren. Unter dem Dach war ein Wassertank für die 5-köpfige Mannschaft, im ersten Stock Wohnräume und eine kleine Küche untergebracht. Im Erdgeschoss und im Keller befand sich der eigentliche Bunker. Die Bunker waren immer am Rande von Wäldern und wichtigen Strassen / Wegen positioniert und sollten aus der Entfernung wie kleine niedliche Wochenendhäuschen wirken. Im Erdgeschoss gab es in der Regel eine PAK sowie mehrere schwere Maschinengewehre zum Empfang der Wehrmacht. Abgerundet wurde das Gelände um die Häuser mit Minenfeldern, diversen Hindernissen, Laufgräben und Verbindungen zu anderen rückwärtigen Bereichen.

 

1/144 Weekend house in French

My new project is a house. However, not a normal house in the sense of a home, but in the sense of a bunker. Part of the Maginot Line of the French from WW2, these houses stood close to the border with Belgium.

Also called "maison fortige des ardennes" in the original, these were nothing more than bunkers disguised as dwellings. Under the roof was a water tank for the 5-member crew, and on the second floor were living quarters and a small kitchen. On the first floor and in the basement was the actual bunker. The bunkers were always positioned on the edge of woods and important roads / paths and from a distance should look like small cute weekend cottages. On the first floor there was usually a PAK as well as several heavy machine guns to receive the Wehrmacht. The terrain around the houses was rounded off with minefields, various obstacles, running trenches and connections to other rear areas.

Diorama in 1/144 für Schmalspurbahnen, Feldbahn und Bunkerbahn

Hier noch ein Video, was ich in den Weihnachtsferien angefangen hatte. Die Dioramen sind alle schon etwas älter und fielen mir beim Aufräumen in die Hände. Also bin ich hingegangen und habe sie erst entstaubt und dann meine aktuellen Schmalspurmodelle in Szene gesetzt.

08/52 Billard T75 als Zuggarnitur für V1 Transport

Ebenfalls fertig geworden ist auch meine erste französiche Lokomotive, die Billard T75. Zusammen mit dem Plattformwagen von 1888 gibt es so gleich 3 neue Sets für den Bereich Schmallspur. Den ersten Artikel hierzu, gab es hier. Sollte ich einen Massstab noch nicht umgewandelt haben und ihr wollt diese Version (1/160 bis 1/72 sind möglich).

Die kleine Lokomotive wurde auch im Bereich einiger Maginot Bunker eingesetzt, innerhalb der Bunker kamen jedoch kleine Elektro oder Batterie-Loks zum Einsatz.

Ich habe schon darauf hingewiesen, die Version mit dem Transport der V1 ist spekulativ, aber es passt halt gut.

Also finished is my first french locomotive, the Billard T75. Together with the platform car of 1888, there are 3 new sets for the narrow gauge range. The first article about this, was here. If I have not yet converted a scale and you want this version (1/160 to 1/72 are possible).

The small locomotive was also used in the area of some Maginot bunkers, but inside the bunkers small electric or battery locomotives were used.

I already pointed out, the version with the V1 transport is speculative, but it just fits well.

Beim Aufräumen fielen mir wieder viele alte Fotos in die Hände. Während der grösste Teil in den Mülleimer wanderte, (ich habe ja noch die Negative), fand ich auch Fotos von 1998! Damals erzählten mir meine Eltern von einem französichen Bunker, der keine 40 km von uns entfernt, besichtigt werden könnte. Zu der Zeit lagen meine Interessen noch nicht so auf Bunker und Panzer, aber warum nicht mal so einen Bunker besichtigen. Leider hatte ich die Batterien für den Blitz im Auto vergessen, weshalb alle Fotos nicht so besonders geworden sind. Aber dennoch will ich einige hier vorstellen, da ich in den nächsten Tagen meine französische Bunkerbahn vorstellen werde.

Das Artilleriefort Hackenberg besteht aus einem grossen Bunkerkomplex mit eigenem Schmallspurnetz. Neben dem Haupteingang gab es seperate Eingänge für die Versorgung mit Munition und 17 Kampftände. Über 1000 Mann stark war die Besatzung, die auch ein eigenes Krankenrevier incl. Operationssaal und einer Grossküche umfasste. 

Das Werk kann heute noch besichtigt werden, jedoch sind feste Schuhe und warme Sachen sehr zu empfehlen und eben Batterien für den Blitz.

While cleaning up, many old photos fell into my hands again. While most of them went into the trash (I still have the negatives), I also found photos from 1998! At that time my parents told me about a French bunker, which could be visited not 40 km away from us. At that time my interests were not yet so on bunkers and tanks, but why not visit such a bunker. Unfortunately, I had forgotten the batteries for the flash in my car, which is why all the photos have not become so special. But nevertheless I want to present some here, because I will present my French bunker railroad in the next days.

The artillery fort Hackenberg consists of a large bunker complex with its own narrow-gauge network. Beside the main entrance there were separate entrances for the supply with ammunition and 17 fighting positions. The garrison was over 1000 men strong and included its own infirmary including an operating theater and a large kitchen. 

The plant can still be visited today, but sturdy shoes and warm clothes are highly recommended, as well as batteries for the flash.

Welcome to Germany or crossing a river with the M2 ponton bridge // neues Winterdiorama 3/52

I decided to build again a diorama with bigger dimensions but still fitting into a shoe box.
The theme is the use of my M2 ponton bridge system. The scenery plays around the operation Bodenplatte (the liberation of Bastogne). 
The basement is a MDF plate which I had left over. The banks are made with gypsum and snow powder. The water is made with some stuff, I had left. And that was the problem, initial I planed a summer theme, but the water was first clear but then during the drying process, it got milky. Therefore I changed from summer to winter time. with my snow powder I covered everything and added several trees to imagine the feeling of a forest. The tanks are from Dargon, the M2 is my own design.

Deutsche Version

Mal wieder ein Diorama fertig bekommen. Auch dieses gehört zur Serie, schon lange angefangen und nicht fertig gemacht. Doch jetzt ist es fertig und es gefällt mir recht gut. Dabei; geplant war alles ganz anders. Ursprünglich wollte ich eine Sommerlandschaft darstellen und dort den Flussübergang. Doch als ich das Wasser mit der alten Masse eingoss, wurde es während dem Trocknen erst klar und dann immer milchiger. Rausreissen wäre eine Option gewesen, doch dann dachte ich, okay, dann spielt das Diorama halt in der Zeit der Elsass-Kampanie oder rund um die Befreiung von Bastogne. Die Panzer sind von Dragon und direkt unverändert eingebaut. Die Figuren sind handbemalt und sind Abgüsse vom Dragon Landungsboot Diorama. Die Pontonbrücke ist von mir aus meinem Shop und wurde entsprechend angemalt und aufgeklebt.

Die nachfolgenden Fotos sollten eigentlich den Übergang etwas in Action zeigen, so mit Nebel und Rauch. Also draussen auf der Terrasse alles aufgebaut und die Rauchtablette gezündet. Aber egal wie, ausser verbrannten Fingern, klappte es einfach nicht, der Wind hat den Rauch immer in die falsche Richtung geweht.

During WWII nearly every country had bunkers. Even the USA built several bunkers, for example around San Francisco you could still visit some of them. In Europe France had the Maginot line to protect their country against Germany. After the occupation of France the Germans used several bunker complexes to store or to produce inside parts. In several of them the Wehrmacht produced parts for their U-Boots. The bigger fortifications had inside narrow gauge trains to transport ammunition and the crew.
My new diorama shows the entrance of one of the French fortifications during the German occupation. All bigger fortifications of the Maginot line had fortification entrances where they brought the ammunition inside the complex. So this is my idea, an scenario at the entrance of such a overage. The German Wunderwaffe will most probably disappear before the final version. 
About the built:
The basement is a round plate, mountain and the bunker itself is made out of foam. The entrance doors are 3D printed. As the narrow gauge train will go from outside into the bunker, I decided to paint the tracks on the ground. The turn table is simply a piece of paper. Most of the rest is paint and paper. Only the train and all other parts for the train are 3D printed. Most of the design is older; I only updated the design and put everything together in one set.

Deutsche Version

Während des zweiten Wletkrieges hat ja fast jedes Land Bunker gebaut. Selbst die Griechen hatten mit der Metaxa Linie eine Befestigungslinie. In Frankreich gab es die Maginot Line. Wer sich für die Befestigungen rund um San Francisco interessiert, ich habe hier mal ein paar Bunker vorgestellt, die ich selbst besichtigt hatte.

Während der Besetzung Frankreichs durch die Wehrmacht, wurden viele der grösseren Werke als Produktionsstätten benutzt. Von Flugzeugteilen bis hin zu Teilen für die U-Boot-Flotte wurde in dne Bunkern produziert und dann zur Weiterverarbeitung nach Deutschland gebracht. Dies ist auch die Ausgangslage meines Dioramas.
Ein französischer Bunkerkomplex, mit einem grossen Eingang. die Deutschen benutzen die Schmallspurbahn um Munition in das Werk zu bringen.

Zum Bau:
Die Grundplatte ist eine knapp 20 cm runde Korkplatte. Der Bunker und die Felsenformation habe ich aus Styrodor herausgeschnitten. Die Gittertüren sind 3D gedruckt, die Schienen nur aufgemalt. Die Drehscheibe wird wahrscheinlich in der finalen Version nicht mehr dabei sein. In den nächsten Tagen werden dann noch weitere Details folgen.
