Taifun, oder: lang, imposant und ziemlich nutzlos

Die beiden Modelle habe ich als Entwurf bereits hier vorgestellt: Vorstellung 

Zwischenzeitlich sind die Modelle vom Druck zurück und haben auch Farbe gesehen. Durch die offene Konstruktion ist es noch recht schwer alles richitg zu lackieren, aber Sprühpistole oder so, das ist nicht mein Ding. Aber angemalt sehen sie gleich besser aus, aber natürlich, im Vergleich zum Original, eher nicht ernsthaft ein Vergleich, die Konstruktion war im Original eine filigrane Angelegenheit. Aber davon abgesehen sind es zwei sehr ungewöhnliche Modelle.

In the meantime, the models are back from printing and have also seen paint. Due to the open construction, it's still quite difficult to paint everything properly, but spray guns or something like that are not my thing. But painted they look better straight away, but of course, compared to the original, not a serious comparison, the construction was a filigree affair in the original. But apart from that, they are two very unusual models.

Während Panther natürlich jedem etwas sagt, sieht es bei dem Wort Taifun schon wieder etwas anders aus. Taifun, irgendwas mit Wind, Sturm oder so?

Da kommen wir der Sache schon näher. Taifun war der Name einer leichten Flugabwehrrakete, welche 1944 entwickelt wurde. (Wikipedia). Für einen echten Kampeinsatz hat es nie gereicht, wie mit so vielen anderen Entwicklungen, die einfach zu spät kamen. Es gibt zwei Bilder, die den Aufbau der Raketen in einem Werfer zeigen. Dieser besteht im Grunde aus einer umgebauten 88 mm Flak, das Kanonenrohr wurde entfernt und stattdessen wurden 4 Kästen zur Aufnahme und Stabilisierung der Raketen montiert. Wahrscheinlich wurden diverse Geräte des Flugabwehrgeschützes auch hier verwendet. Leider kenne ich mich aber zu wenig aus und mit nur einem Foto wäre es auch ziemlich viel Spekulation, zu sagen, was wurde noch verwendet. Die Kästen zur Aufnahme der Raketen, bestanden aus dünnem Blech; waren sehr filigran gestaltet. Meine Lösung in 1/144 ist alles andere als filigran. Die Streben habe ich wegen der Druckstärke und Stabilität in 0,8 mm ausgeführt, im Original also satte 11 cm.

Jetzt zum Panther. Die Verwendung der Taifun Flugabwehrrakete auf einer Panther Panzerwanne ist reinste Spekulation. Aber ich fand die Idee schön und da ich noch viele Panther Fahrgestelle rumstehen habe, habe ich also beide Ideen umgesetzt. Sowohl die Abschussrampe auf Basis der 8.8 Flak wie auch der Aufbau auf dem Panther habe ich in einer Datei gezeichnet. Der genaue Mechanismus, wie die Gestelle befestigt wurden, oder auch wie die Höhenausrichtung erfolgte, sind Fantasie. Zum Glück bleiben viele Details in 1/144 ohnehin auf der Strecke.

While panther means something to everyone, the word typhoon is a little different. Typhoon, something about wind, storm or something?

That brings us closer to the point. Taifun was the name of a light anti-aircraft missile that was developed in 1944. (Wikipedia). As with so many other developments that simply came too late, it was never enough for real combat use. There are two pictures showing the construction of the missiles in a launcher. This basically consists of a converted 88 mm anti-aircraft gun, the gun barrel has been removed and instead 4 boxes have been mounted to hold and stabilize the rockets. Various devices from the anti-aircraft gun were probably also used here. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about it and with only one photo it would be a lot of speculation to say what else was used. The boxes to hold the rockets were made of thin sheet metal and were very delicate. My solution in 1/144 is anything but delicate. I made the struts in 0.8 mm for strength and stability, so a full 11 cm in the original.

Now to the Panther. The use of the Taifun anti-aircraft missile on a Panther tank hull is pure speculation. But I liked the idea and since I still have a lot of Panther chassis around, I realized both ideas. I drew both the launching ramp based on the 8.8 Flak and the superstructure on the Panther in one file. The exact mechanism, how the racks were attached or how the elevation was aligned are fantasy. Fortunately, many details in 1/144 fall by the wayside anyway.

Aktuell komme ich nicht so recht vom Fleck. Leider werden viele meiner Projekte nicht fertig, oft hängt es an Kleinigkeiten. Irgendwie ist der Wurm drin. Die Liste der angefangenen Projekte, ist in den letzten 3 Wochen wieder länger statt kürzer geworden Doch ab und zu werden dann doch auch noch Modelle fertig. Daher freue ich mich, doch mal wieder was Neues vorstellen zu können. Der Anhänger lief bei den V2 Einheiten bzw. war in Peenemünde im Einsatz. Viele Informationen über den Anhänger kann ich leider nicht anbieten. Daher habe ich die Abmessungen anhand der beide Originalfotos abgeschätzt und auf das Modell übertragen. Damit ist wieder eine kleine Lücke im V2 Fuhrpark geschlossen worden. Der Anhänger diente als Stromquelle, jedenfalls deutet das zweite Foto mit der offenen Seitenklappe darauf hin. Erstmalig wird das Modell in 2 Versionen kommen, mit geschlossenen Klappen und im Doppelset, dann mit einer offenen Klappe, so wie man es auch auf dem Originalfoto sieht.

 

Weitere Modelle im Zusammenhang mit der V2 kommen im Laufe des Jahres noch dazu. Wenn Sie dann mal fertig werden.

Additional 2024 innovations for the V2 units

I'm not really getting anywhere at the moment. Unfortunately, many of my projects aren't getting finished, often because of little things. Somehow the worm is in it. The list of projects I've started has become longer instead of shorter in the last 3 weeks, but every now and then models do get finished. So I'm pleased to be able to present something new again. The trailer ran with the V2 units or was used in Peenemünde. Unfortunately, I can't offer much information about the trailer. I have therefore estimated the dimensions on the basis of the two original photos and transferred them to the model. This has closed another small gap in the V2 fleet. The trailer served as a power source, at least that's what the second photo with the open side flap indicates. For the first time, the model will come in 2 versions, with closed flaps and in a double set, then with an open flap, as can be seen in the original photo. Further models in connection with the V2 will be added in the course of the year. When they are finished.

02/52 V2 Rakete auf Eisenbahn-Starteinheit

1/144 V2 auf Eisenbahn-Abschusseinheit

Das Modell als Zeichnung und gedrucktes Modell, habe ich ja schon vorgestellt. Jetzt bin ich auch endlich dazu gekommen, alles anzumalen und auch die letzten Schwachstellen und einen kleinen Fehler noch auszumerzen. Auch wenn die V2 im Bausatz nicht enthalten ist, fürs Foto sieht es mit Rakete viel besser aus. 

Also eine V2 dazu genommen, doch wenn, dann wollte ich schon die Mehrton-Tarnung verwenden. Das war eine schöne Herausforderung. Über die Rundungen der Rakete war es nicht einfach, die Farben so zu verteilen, dass es immer unterschiedliche Farben sind. Ganz 100 % ist es mir nicht gelungen, doch ich hoffe man sieht es nicht auf den Fotos.Das Modell steht in den nächsten Tagen im Shop und auch gleich in den Masstäben 1/100, 1/120, 1/87, 1/72 und 1/76. Weitere Modelle rund um das Thema V2 kommen dann im Laufe des Jahres.

I have already presented the model as a drawing and printed model. Now I've finally got around to painting everything and eliminating the last weak points and a small mistake. Even though the V2 is not included in the kit, it looks much better for the photo with the rocket. 

So I added a V2, but if I did, I wanted to use the multitone camouflage. That was a nice challenge. It wasn't easy to distribute the colors over the curves of the rocket so that they were always different colors. I didn't succeed 100%, but I hope you can't see it in the photos. The model will be in the store in the next few days and also in the scales 1/100, 1/120, 1/87, 1/72 and 1/76. Further models on the subject of the V2 will be coming in the course of the year.

Das ist nicht wirklich ein Diorama. Aber ich wollte mal sehen, wie das Modell auf einem Diorama wirkt. Daher hatte ich für das Foto einfach ein paar Fahrzeuge, die bei V2 Einheiten verwendet wurden, auf ein Eisenbahn-Diorama gestellt und ein paar Fotos gemacht. Fast reicht es auch schon für ein richtiges Diorama, die Lokomotive habe ich, den grossen Tankwagen für den flüssigen Sauerstoff, den kleinen Tankwagen für den B-Stoff, die Henschel Feuerwehr für den Rungenwagen, mal sehen, ob ich bis zum Sommer einen ganzen Schiesszug zusammen bekomme.

This is not really a diorama. But I wanted to see how the model looks on a diorama. So for the photo I simply placed a few vehicles used on V2 units on a railroad diorama and took a few photos. I almost have enough for a real diorama, I have the locomotive, the large tank car for the liquid oxygen, the small tank car for the B-stock, the Henschel fire engine for the stake car, let's see if I can get a whole shooting train together by the summer.

Hier ein paar Ausblicke,was in den nächsten Wochen zum Verkauf frei gegeben wird. Wie so oft, hinke ich mit dem Anmalen hinter her, doch vielleicht werde ich jetzt schneller, ich habe bereits Weihnachtsferien. Ausserdem habe ich bereits wieder mit den nächsten Modellen angefangen, diesesmal aber wieder mehr im Bereich von LKWs, Anhängern und vielleicht fange ich auch mal mit einem Panzer an. Mal sehen, ich habe da so eine Idee, und das Modell gibt es in 1/100 noch nicht. Die Umwandlung in andere Massstäbe muss ich noch machen, wer nicht warten will, einfach reklamieren.

I've also already started on the next models, but this time I'm focusing more on trucks, trailers and maybe I'll even start on a tank. Aggregat A4 und der Abschuss von Eisenbahnwagen aus 

Die Wehrmacht hatte zum Ende des Krieges ja den Abschuss von V2 Raketen von Eisenbahnwagen aus erprobt. Doch wie sahen solche Zugkombinationen aus?

Die folgenden Informationen habe ich von verschiedenen Seiten zusammengetragen, allerdings sind einige Angaben recht spekulativ und ich kann vieles nicht wirklich prüfen.

Es gab mehrere Einheiten, mit denen Tests durchgeführt wurden. Die Abschussrampe existierte in verschiedenen Ausführungen, auch wenn das Grundprinzip immer gleich war.


Dei Zusammenstellung eines V2-Abschusszuges 

• Flachdach-Gerätewagen
• Rungen-Wagen für den Feuerleitpanzer
• Ein leerer Rungenwagen
• Schwerlast-Wagen (doch welcher Typ?) mit Opel Blitz Koffer als Prüfwagen

At the end of the war, the Wehrmacht had tested firing V2 rockets from railroad cars. But what did such train combinations look like?

I have collected the following information from various sources, but some of the details are quite speculative and I cannot really verify much of it.

There were several units with which tests were carried out.
The launching ramp existed in different versions, even if the basic principle was always the same.

• Flat roof equipment trolley
• Stake wagon for the fire control vehicle
• An empty stake wagon
• Heavy-duty wagon (but which type?) with Opel Blitz box as a test wagon
• Open dummy wagon, without brakes
• Linz type freight wagon with Steyr-1500 as power supply wagon
• open flat or stake wagon for transporting a fire engine, I know the Henschel fire engine and a Mercedes LF 25
• open flat wagon + Opel water tanker, stanchion turntable wagon
• open dummy wagon with rocket part
• The Ssla-44 type starter wagon
• Four-axle low-loader as tank wagon for liquid oxygen
• Two-axle tank wagon for the B-substance
• Low side with railings
• As locomotive WR 360 C14, all photos I know show the WR 360 C14 as locomotive.

48/52 neues Highlight V2 mobile Abschussrampe // V2 mobile plattform

Die Idee stammt von einem Kollegen, der die Umsetzung vor einiger Zeit auf dem Forum Axishistory mal vorgestellt hatte. Leider wurde der Bericht aber nie bis zum fertigen Modell beschrieben.

Meine Neugier war aber geweckt. Es gibt einige Fotos, die zeigen eine V2 mit der Startrampe auf einem Eisenbahnwagen. Oft werden die Fotos in den falschen Zusammenhang gestellt. Also begab ich mich auf die Suche und fand nach und nach ein paar Informationen. Zunächst die wichtigste Erkenntnis, es wurden nur Versuche unternommen, wahrscheinlich in Peenemünde oder in der Nähe. Einen gefechtsmässigen Einsatz hat es nie gegeben. Wie viele Plattformwagen gebaut worden sind, ist für mich nicht ganz klar. Auf einer Seite ist von 15 Wagen die Rede, in dem Buch «V2 – gefrorene Blitze» sprechen sie von 3 Wagen. Die Wagen wurden von der Reichsbahn übernommen, der Aufbau stammt wohl von Meiler, die bauen noch heute Hebevorrichtungen für Kipper und Silofahrzeuge. Die Zusammensetzung der Züge ist auch nicht ganz sicher, wahrscheinlich ist dies der Tatsache geschuldet, dass man hier noch am Testen war.

Zurück zum eigentlichen Plattformwagen. Neben einigen Fotos die ich im deutschen Nationalarchiv online finden konnte, habe ich auch einen Papierbausatz der polnischen Firma GPM gefunden. Damit hatte ich die wesentlichen Bestandteile für das Modell zusammen.  Beim Zeichnen gab es dann schon noch genügend Probleme, ich musste Mindest-Druckstärken, optisches Erscheinungsbild und das Vorbild ja irgendwie unter einen Hut bringen. Ausserdem wollte ich die wesentlichen Teile beweglich darstellen oder zumindest verschiedene Zustände darstellen können. Damit der Preis des Modelles nicht durch die Decke geht, habe ich die V2 nicht auch mit dazu genommen. Diese kann man auch von Takara nehmen oder die von mir bereits umgesetzte Version. Das Modell besteht im Wesentlichen aus den folgenden Baugruppen:

• Starttisch
• Hebevorrichtung
• Plattform
• Ablenkbleche
• Arbeitsbühnen

Das Modell ist fertig gezeichnet und wird in den nächsten Wochen gedruckt. Ich hoffe kurz vor Jahresende kann ich auch das Modell dann im Original zeigen. Den ersten Schiesszug werde ich dann in meinen Weihnachtsferien bauen.

In der nächsten Woche werde ich dann vorstellen, wie ein Schiesszug ausgesehen hat, es gibt auch einige Fotos hierzu.

The idea came from a colleague who had presented the realization some time ago on the Axishistory forum. Unfortunately, the report was never described up to the finished model.

But my curiosity was aroused. There are some photos that show a V2 with the launch pad on a railroad car. But the photos are often placed in the wrong context. So I went looking and gradually found some information. First of all, the most important finding was that only tests were carried out, probably in Peenemünde or nearby. There was never any combat use. It is not entirely clear to me how many platform wagons were built. One page mentions 15 wagons, in the book "V2 - gefrorene Blitze" they talk about 3 wagons. The wagons were taken over by the Reichsbahn, the superstructure probably came from Meiler, who still build lifting devices for tippers and silo vehicles today. The composition of the trains is also not entirely certain, probably due to the fact that they were still being tested.

Back to the actual platform car. In addition to some photos that I was able to find online in the German National Archive, I also found a paper kit from the Polish company GPM. This gave me the essential components for the model.  There were still enough problems with the drawing, I had to somehow reconcile minimum print thicknesses, visual appearance and the prototype. I also wanted to be able to move the main parts or at least represent different states. To prevent the price of the model from going through the roof, I didn't include the V2. This can also be taken from Takara or the version I have already realized. The model essentially consists of the following components:

• Launch table
• lifting device
• platform
• deflector plates
• working platforms

The model has been drawn and will be printed in the next few weeks. I hope to be able to show the original model shortly before the end of the year. I will then build the first shooting train during my Christmas vacation.

In the next week I will present how a shooting train looked like, there are also some photos.

Mein Vorhaben die V2 zusammen mit allen notwendigen Fahrzeugen umzusetzen, ist wieder ein Stück weitergekommen. Im Laufe des Jahres werde ich dann die nächsten Fahrzeuge vorstellen. Eine Kombination, die ich schon etwas länger fertig habe, will ich heute zusammen mit einem kleinen Diorama vorstellen. Die V2 auf dem Weg raus aus der Fertigung zum Verladeplatz. Zum Ende des Krieges wurde ja versucht die Fertigung komplett unter Tage zu verlegen. Dort kamen Feldbahnen für den Transport zum Einsatz. (Unter Tage spricht man dann von Grubenbahnen).

Eine solche Szene wollte ich im Modell vorstellen. Die V2 habe ich bereits, hier habe ich etwas geschummelt, die Tarnbemalung ist nicht wie im Original, da habe ich mir das Leben etwas leichter gemacht und eine Farbkombination gewählt, die mir besser gefiel. Der Transportzug und die kleine Lok sind dafür schon wieder wie im Original. Der Rest ist hauptsächlich Foam und Farbe. Die Bäume habe ich günstig bei Ebay gekauft und farblich einfach nachbehandelt. Die Gleise habe ich komplett selbst gebaut. Hierzu habe ich eine Montagehilfe benutzt, die ich mir schon vor längerer Zeit, habe drucken lassen. Mit dieser Schablone werden dann zwei dünne Streifen auf den richtigen Abstand zueinander gehalten und die Schienen können geklebt werden. Da auf meinen Dioramen sich nichts bewegt, mussten sie keine Funktion übernehmen und konnten entsprechend dünn ausgeführt werden.

My plan to build the V2 together with all the necessary vehicles has progressed a bit. In the course of the year I will present the next vehicles. One combination, which I have finished a little bit longer, I want to present today together with a small diorama. The V2 on the way out of the production to the loading area. At the end of the war it was tried to move the production completely underground. There, light railroads were used for the transport. (Underground one speaks then of mine railroads).

I wanted to present such a scene in the model. I already have the V2, here I cheated a bit, the camouflage paint is not like in the original, there I made my life a bit easier and chose a color combination that I liked better. The transport train and the small loco are like the original. The rest is mainly foam and paint. The trees I bought cheap on Ebay and just color treated them. The tracks I built completely by myself. For this I used an assembly aid, which I had printed a long time ago. With this template, two thin strips are then held at the correct distance from each other and the rails can be glued. Since nothing moves on my dioramas, they had no function to take over and could be made accordingly thin.
