Jagdschloss, deutsche Radarstation 

Eigentlich müsste dieser Beitrag schon vor ein paar Wochen erschienen sein. Doch wie so oft steckt der Teufel im Detail. Das Gebäude war schnell gezeichnet, aber die Radar-konstruktion war doch etwas verzwickter. Zum einen sollte sie so dünn wie möglich sein, damit sie dem Original möglichst nahe kommt, zum anderen sollte Shapeways das Teil auch noch drucken. Und so habe ich in den letzten Wochen das Teil nach und nach insgesamt 5 x ändern müssen, bis Shapeways das Gefühl hatte, es könnte gedruckt werden. Jetzt habe ich alles verstärkt, die Fehlerzahl runter gedrückt und Shapeways macht mir die Freude, das Teil zu drucken. Über den Preis will ich hier noch nichts schreiben. Der ist vom ersten Hochladen bis zur finalen Version ziemlich in die Höhe geschossen. Auf einigen Fotos im Internet sieht man manchmal einen etwas flacheren Bau mit zwei seitlichen Flügeln. Dieser findet sich nicht in der offiziellen Beschreibung, eventuell ist die eine der späteren Varianten.

Jagdschloss, a German secret Radar station

This design drove me nearly crazy. While the building was done in less than half a day, the design and the construction of the antenna was a nightmare. First I had to find the correct dimensions and then, once this was done, I had to reinforce everything, so that it would be printable. This process run five times until Shapeways said, now we print it. But on the other side, it will be a wonderful and very unusual building on every diorama. Note: on some pictures on the internet you may see a different building, not so high with two side buildings. This may have been a building for one of the Jagdschloss variants.

Jagdschloss was the name of a German radar station to support the German flak batteries. The Jagdschloss helped the Luftwaffe and Wehrmacht to get a big picture of incoming fighters and bombers. They got an overview about everything flying around, own fighters as well as any unknown object. So you were able to guide your own fighters to the bomber formations. You have to know that Germany had built up a grid of different radar stations, mobile and fixed to get a complete picture. So the Jagdschloss helped to get a better and more detailed overview.

On YouTube you find two interesting videos. The first one shows more details from inside, the second video shows a wonderful view from outside, made with a drone, so that you get a good understanding of the outside dimensions.

5 vor 400 // 5 to 400 or close to my goal for 2020 32/52

 395 Modelle im Angebot

Ende letzten Jahres hatte ich 300 Modelle im Angebot und dachte, mal sehen, ob ich es schaffen könnte,bis Ende 2020 auf 400 Modelle zu kommen. Jetzt Mitte September, stehe ich bei 395 Modelle im Shop. Bis Ende des Jahres werden es dann 400 ++ sein, da ich ja noch fleissig am zeichnen bin und bereits die nächsten Kandidaten am Start habe. Daher will ich mich an dieser Stelle mal bei allen bedanken, die sich mit Ideen und Wünschen bei mir melden (und dann auch die Modelle kaufen). Bis Ende des Jahres werden dann noch ein paar schöne 1/144 Modelle kommen, die es so noch nicht als Modell kommt.

Last year I reached 300 designs in my Shapeways shop. I thought it would be a nice challenge to reach 400 by end of this year. Now, in September I just published model nr. 395 and have more than 5 additional designs which will be ready before end of this year. So I will take the chance to say thanks to all, contacting me with new ideas (and who buy them later). This is incentive and motivation for me to continue with my work. 

New 1/144 models arrived // neue Sendung mit vielen Neuheiten eingetroffenen 31/52

This weekend i picked up my latest shippment from Shapeways. Actually it were 4 orders, which I combined to save shipping costs. In the next days I will start publishing my new designs and will present them in more detail.

For the moment just one picture, I unpacked everything and made a first check if something is mising.

Am Wochenende konnte ich endlich mein Paket mit den ganzen Neuheiten entgegen nehmen.

Leider bin ich nicht mehr soweit gekommen, dass ich alles auspacken und fotografieren konnte. Deshalb gibt es nur dieses erste Foto. In den nächsten Tagen werde ich die Neuheiten dann genau vorstellen.
