Der AEC Matador war ein robuster bei allen sehr beliebter LKW der britischen Armee. Auch die deutsche Wehrmacht hatte einige erbeutete Exemplare, in ihrem Dienst. Da ich gerade erst die Ford F30 gezeichnet hatte, dachte ich an den gepanzerten Befehlswagen, der auf Basis des AEC MAtador aufgebaut war. Also schnell den Befehlswagen gezeichnet, und dann halt mal wieder einen LKW. Bei der Recherche sah ich, dass der Matador auch oft als Zugfahrzeug für Artillerie diente, weshalb es neben dem LKW auch noch eine neue Kanone gibt. Da die Beine der Atillerie in der Regel recht dünn sind, habe ich das Modell in 2 Positionen gezeichnet, aber halt die Beine nicht beweglich.

The AEC Matador was a robust truck that was very popular with the British Army. The German Wehrmacht also had some captured examples in their service. Since I had just drawn the Ford F30, I thought of the armored command vehicle, which was based on the AEC MAtador. So I quickly drew the command vehicle, and then another truck. During my research, I saw that the Matador was often used as a towing vehicle for artillery, which is why there is a new cannon in addition to the truck. As the legs of the artillery are usually quite thin, I drew the model in 2 positions, but the legs are not movable.

new 50 ton Flatcar, a friendly gift from the Russian railway // neuer 50 ton Flachbett Wagen, Beutewagen der russischen Staatsbahn 28/52

50 ton Flatcar for the German Reichsbahn 

I just finished work on a new railway car. It is a Russian 50 ton Flatcar, which found his way into the arsenal of the German Reichsbahn. Always short on wagons, the Germans used these Russian flatcars to transport mostly tanks and other heavy goods. The Boggies are designed that if wanted, you can add steel wheels like from other N scale railway producers.

At the moment I will offer only the flatcar, but of course I will add one more special version, which the Germans converted. So check out in the next two weeks for more upcoming news.

50 ton Flachbettwagen, russischer Beutewagen

The Wehrmacht erbeutete beim Überfall auf Russland auch jede Menge Eisenbahnwagen. Teilweise wurden diese in die Reichsbahn eingeliedert und weiter verwendet. So erging es auch einer grossen anzahl von 50 ton Flachbettwagen. Diese bekammen eine Reichsbahnnummer und wurden zum Transport von schweren Gütern wie z.B. Panzern verwendet. Daneben wurden aber auch einige Wagen von der Wehrmacht für eine besondere Verwendung umgebaut. Aktuell gibt es aber erst einmal nur die Standard-Ausführung. die Drehgestelle sind diesmal so konstruiert, dass auch ohne grosse Probleme Drehgestelle von anderen N-Wagen verwendet werden können. Die Sonderausführung des Wagens wird dann so in etwa 2 oder 3 Wochen kommen.

Winter dioramas

Before I will present some brand new designs I have to fill up the period with the presentation of some winter dioramas. The first one, is an older one, which I had build some years ago. The second diorama is brand new, I always wanted to present the German M10 tank. As preparation for the operation "Wacht am Rhein" or better known as the battle of the bulge, the Germans collected American trucks, Jeeps and other equipment, to confuse the American troops on the front line. On both dioramas I used a type of washing soda to create my own snow.

Operation Wacht am Rhein, Winterdioramen im Sommer

Es dauert leider noch etwas, bis ich mal wieder was Neues präsentieren kann. So überbrücke ich die Zeit bei strahlendem Sonnenschein doch mit 2 schönen Winterdioramen. Das erste Diorama ist etwas älter und zeigt den deutschen Vormarsch während der Ardennenschlacht. Es zeigt einen deutschen Spähpanzer und einen abgeschossenen M4 Sherman und GMC truck.

Das 2. Diorama ist ganz neu und sollte mal dem älteren Dragon Modell eines deutschen M10 Ersatz, eine Heimat bieten.

Der M10 Ersatz war ein Panther, welcher für die Operation Greif, so umgebaut worden war, dass er auf eine gewisse Entfernung als amerikanischer M10 durchgehen würde. Insgesamt 5 Panther wurden so umgebaut. Diese sollten zusammen mit anderen Beutefahrzeugen und deutschen Soldaten in amerikanischen Uniformen (!) hinter den amerikanischen Linen möglichst viel Verwirrung zu stiften.

Die Dioramen wurden mit Sodapulver bestreut, was aus meiner Sicht einen recht schönen Schnee gibt. Zu dem Panther gibt es einige Quellen im Internet. Hier und hier auf Deutsch finden sich 2 Seiten die den Panther beschreiben.

Today I present an armored Russian train, actually it is a locomotive and tender. The second version is the same set, but this time as an exploded, destroyed version.
The original train saw action with the red army and as a "Beute" with the German Wehrmacht.
I painted both versions in black, but I believe the Russians used dark green as well.

Die Idee hatte ich schon länger. Eine russische Panzerlokomotive, die dann auch gleich als Beutestück bei der Reichsbahn im Einsatz wäre. Nach etwas Suchen fand ich eine gute Zeichnung als Vorlage. Die zweite  Version ist einfach das gleiche Modell, jedoch schon mit Zerstörungen. Leider klappt es bei mir mit dem Watte färben noch nicht so recht, aber auf dem Foto sieht die Explosion schon recht gut aus

Schienensicherungszug Blücher update 06/52

It is already several weeks ago, that I showed the blueprints from the Streckensicherungszug Blücher.
So it is time to finalize everything. I got the first prototype back from printing and found out, that it still needs a bit more love. Several details had to be optimized and I had to add some new stuff. With the turret of the Panzer IV I´m not 100 % satisfied, but at the moment I do not know how I could get him printed better. The painting is ongoing and the gun for the turret of the Russian T-70. This will be something you have to add later as well, it is such a small diameter, that I could never get it printed.

Deutsche Version

Bevor ich was Neues anfange, muss ich mal meine ganzen Altlasten fertig stellen. Der Streckensicherungszug Blücher ist eine davon. Ich habe den Prototypen bereits annähernd fertig angemalt, aber er muss doch nochmals überarbeitet werden, bevor er in Serie gehen könnte.

Die Befestigung des Panzer IV Turms war zu massiv, weshalb ich mir ein Loch in die Decke gerissen hatte. Auch einige Details musste ich noch ergänzen. Außerdem wurde das Modell auch ein Millimeter länger, sonst wäre die Plattform zu klein gewesen. Auf dem Foto fehlt noch das Kanonenrohr für den T-70, dieses muss auch später mit dünnem Draht ergänzt werden, da es zum Druck viel zu klein wäre.

Today I present you a very unusual weapon. Built by the Germans and used from the Americans. But built from the Germans is not 100% correct. Actually it was assembled from the US Army based on German equipement I found With these parts they created a new weapon and sent greetings to the Germans.

Deutsche Version

Der Culemeyer mit den montierten Werfergestellen stellt eine eher ungewöhnliche Waffe dar. Die Komponenten sind alle aus deutscher Fertigung, doch kombiniert und als Waffe eingesetzt haben dies die US Army. Offensichtlich hatten diese genügend Munition und den Anhänger gefunden und dies darauf montiert. Der Culemeyer würde ja wirklich schwere Lasten tragen, die Holzgestelle und ein paar Raketen stelen da keine Herausforderung dar.

Auf dem Link zum Forum Axis history finden sich noch einige weitere Fotos, die die Tests der US Army in Deutschland zeigen. Das Modell kommt mit dem 2-Achsanhänger und genügend Raketen.

1/144 Scammell Pioneer 23/52

Some years ago I bought some models from Graham Models from the UK. They have some very interesting models on the list. But I have to say, the quality was not that good. A lot of small holes forced me to work a lot with filler. Over the last months then I bought unpainted, unassembled kits from Hong Kong, the seller has different Ebay accounts but I am pretty sure, at the end it is all Panzer Depot.
So today I will show you pictures from both versions of the Scammell Pioneer. Honestly I do not like them both, with a small advantage of the model from Graham Models. But check and decide for yourself.
