 Ein Franzose für Deutschland in Afrika, neues Diorama in 1/144

Als die Deutschen zu Beginn des 2. WK in Frankreich einmarschierten, haben Sie sehr viel Gerät und Fahrzeuge der französischen Armee erbeutet. Ein Teil davon, stelle ich heute vor: die französische 155 mm Kanone GPF. Diese wurde auch an Einheiten des Afrikakorps geliefert und dort eingesetzt. Neben diversen Fotos, die den Schiffstransport zeigen, gibt es auch ein sehr bekanntes Foto, welches die Kanone an der Küste im Einsatz zeigt. Mein Diorama habe ich etwas umgestaltet. Bei mir ist die 155 mm Kanone am Halfaya Pass im Einsatz. Dort wartet sie auf das Erscheinen der Alliierten.

Das Modell entstand nach Vorgabe der Salat-Box, in welches ich das Diorama dann später aufheben will. Mit einem Durchmesser von knapp 11 cm passt es genau in die To Go Salatbox, welche ich ausgewählt hatte. Der Unterbau ist aus Styrodur. Darauf wurden die Schräge und Erhebungen mit Spachtelmasse moduliert. Die Aussparung für die Kanone habe ich mit einem Kreisschneider vorgenommen. Den Wüstensand habe ich mit feinstem Sand nachgebildet. Davor wurde alles ange-feuchtet und mit Weissleim bestrichen. Zum Schluss gab es noch einen entsprech-enden Farbauftrag. Da Pflanzen in der Wüste sehr selten und eher klein sind, habe ich hier auf jeden Bewuchs verzichtet. Zum Schluss habe ich kleine Dekorsteine nochmals etwas zertrümmert und mit Farbe und Weissleim gut gemischt. So ent-stand die befestigte Stellung auf dem Diorama. Der Unterstand für die Munition ist mit Zahnstochern und Teebeutelpapier entstanden.

When the Germans invaded France at the beginning of World War II, they captured a great deal of equipment and vehicles from the French army. Today, I would like to present some of it: the French 155 mm GPF cannon. This was also delivered to units of the Afrika Korps and used there. In addition to various photos showing the ship transport, there is also a very well-known photo showing the gun in action on the coast. I have redesigned my diorama a little. In my version, the 155 mm gun is in action at Halfaya Pass. There it waits for a visit from friends

The model was created according to the specifications of the  paperbox in which I later want to store the diorama. With a diameter of just under 11 cm, it fits perfectly into the To Go salad box I had chosen. The base is made of Styrodur. The slope and elevations were modulated with filler. I made the recess for the cannon with a circle cutter.  I recreated the desert sand using the finest sand. Before doing so, I moistened everything and coated it with white glue. Finally, I applied the appropriate paint. Since plants are very rare and rather small in the desert, I decided not to include any vegetation here. Finally, I crushed some small decorative stones and mixed them well with paint and white glue. This created the fortified position on the diorama. The ammunition shelter was created using toothpicks and tea bag paper.
