Maus Varianten, 2 neue Türme für die Maus

Eigentlich gibt es für die Maus nicht viel zu ergänzen. Von Dragon gibt es schon seit Jahren ein Model der Maus in 1/144 und auch Takom packte die Maus zum Superpanzer  P1000 Ratte dazu. Und doch da ist noch was; die Maus kam nicht mehr wirklich zum Einsatz, es hat wohl auch nur 2 fahrbereite Prototypen gegeben (Krupp hatte eine 3. Wanne in der Fertigung bei Kriegsende). Bei der ersten Erprobung wurde mit einem Ersatzturm gefahren, da der entgültige Turm bei Krupp nicht fertig war. Diesen Turm gibt es in einer recht massiven Form von Artelier Infinite, aber überzeugen konnte der mich nicht. Allerdings wollte ich zunächst nur den Originalturm als Beladung für einen Eisenbahnwagen haben, aber der Ersatzturm war in 10 min gezeichnet, so kam er geich mit. Auf historischen Fotos sieht man den Ersatzturm sowohl einfarbig gelb, wie auch später mit einem Fleckenmuster. Auf allen Fotos wurde auch noch ohne den Zusatztank hinten gefahren. Also müsste der eigentlich weg. Es gab übrigens auch auf dem Papier einen Plan die Maus tauchfähig zu machen, dazu hätte man hinten den Motorbereich abgedeckt / abgedichtet und eine Röhre aufgesetzt. So sollten Flüsse bis 6 m tief überwindbar werden. Alledings wäre zur Flussüberquerung noch eine 2. Maus notwendig gewesen, um das erste Fahrzeug mit Strom zu versorgen. Hört sich recht kompliziert an.

Maus with two new turret variants

For the Maus tank there is nearly nothing to add. Dragon produced the model some years ago, painted and as a kit. Even Takom added the Maus to their set of the Super tank P1000 Ratte. But, no there is still a version missing, the turret substitute weight.  The Maus saw never action, only two units were assembled and tested. a third one was found after the war in parts at the Krupp factory in Essen.
The first trials at Alkett in Berlin and later in Böblingen were driven with this substitute turret. As far as I can see, at that moment they do not used the external tank at the back.
My idea was to design the original turret, but in the raw version to be put on trains to demonstrate the transport. But the substitute turrem was so eays to design, that I simply added him to the set.  At the beginning of the tests the Maus was in plain Wehrmacht yellow, later they added a camouflage to the hull and the turret. Therefore you can go with both.
As nearly all bridges were not strong enough for a 70 ton tank, they thought about a way to cross rivers with a dept of max. 6 m. Over the engine they put a waterproof cover, added two tubes and a longer tube to look out of the water. For power supply of the engine, there was a second tank needed. Sounds very complicated.
