22/52 ein Auftrakt: WR 360 C14 in 1/144 und als Panzerlokomotive

Ich habe ja schon ein paar Wehrmacht Lokomotiven im Angebot. Irgendwann wäre auch die WR 360 C12 an die Reihe gekommen. Doch vorher kam ein netter Herr aus Köln, der mich auf die richtige Spur brachte. Die WR 360 C12 gab es wohl 10 mal. Dies war die Bezeichnung der Vorserien-Loks, während die WR 360 C14 die entgültige Version war, wie sie dann, knapp 300 mal gebaut und von der Wehrmacht eingesetzt wurde. Die WR 360 C14 war ca. 350 mm länger und die Achsabstände waren auch etwas unterschiedlich.

The WR 360 C12 probably existed 10 times. This was the designation of the pre-series locomotives, while the WR 360 C14 was the final version, as it was then, just under 300 times built and used by the Wehrmacht. Das Afrikakorps bringt eine schwere Lokomotive nach Afrika um damit Eisenbahnverkehr aufzubauen. Gut, es ging wohl nicht lange gut, dann hatte ein böser britischer Pilot dem ganzen ein schnelles Ende gesetzt. Bei der gezeigten Lokomotive handelt es sich aber nicht um die WR 360 C14 sondern um die grössere Version WR 550 C12. Von dem Typ wurde nur eine Vorserie gebaut. Ein Exemplar aus dieser Vorserie wurde dann zu der folgenden Panzerlokomotive umgebaut:

The Afrika Korps brings a heavy locomotive to Africa to build up rail traffic. Well, it probably didn't go well for long, then a nasty British pilot put a quick end to it all. The locomotive shown is not the WR 360 C14 but the larger version WR 550 C12. Only one pilot series of this type was built. One of them was rebuilt to the following tank locomotive:

Zurück zur WR 360 C14

Diese Diesellok sollte ursprünglich für Rangieraufgaben verwendet werden. Nach dem netten Hinweis aus Köln, fand ich aber dann heraus, dass der Panzerzug Nr. 29 genau diese Lok als Antrieb benutzt hatte. Dazu war die Lokomotive teilweise gepanzert worden. Von dieser Ausführung existieren, soweit ich herausfinden konnte, genau 2 Fotos.  Also habe ich mich hingesetzt und gleich beide Versionen gezeichnet.

Back to the WR 360 C14

This diesel locomotive was originally intended to be used for shunting duties. After the nice hint from Cologne, however, I then found out that tank train No. 29 had used exactly this locomotive for propulsion. For this purpose, the locomotive had been partially armored. From this version exist, as far as I could find out, exactly 2 photos.  So I sat down and drew both versions.

21/52 Wasseranhänger für Afrikakoprs, Feldumbau mit Original-Vorlage

Ein weiteres Modell, welches ich jetzt anbiete, ist das Set mit zwei Wasseranhängern des deutschen Afrikakorps. Dabei handelt es sich mit grosser Wahrscheinlichkeit um Umbauten im Feld. Dies waren keine Standard-Anhänger der Wehrmacht. Woher die Tankaufbauten kamen, kann ich leider nicht sagen. Aber es gibt ein Foto des Vorbildes, dort zusammen mit einem Hanomag SS 100 als Zugmaschine. Mein Set kommt mit den beiden Wassertank-Anhängern und einer Wasserstelle. Die ist zwar reine Fantasie, jedoch entspricht sie in etwa anderen Wasserstellen, die ich auf Bildern aus dieser Zeit gefunden hatte. Bei den grösseren Massstäben werde ich dann nur einen Anhänger ohne Wasserstelle anbieten.

Another model I offer now is the set with two water trailers of the German Afrikakorps. These are most likely field conversions. These were not standard Wehrmacht trailers. Unfortunately, I cannot say where the tank superstructures came from. But there is a photo of the prototype, there together with a Hanomag SS 100 as tractor. My set comes with the two water tank trailers and a water point. This one is pure fantasy, but it roughly corresponds to other water points I had found on pictures from that time. For the larger scales I will then offer only one trailer without water point.

Den Anhänger habe ich noch nicht vorgestellt. Das Original wurde von der italienischen Armee zum Transport der M13 Panzer verwendet. Gezogen wurde er oft von dem Lancia 3 Ro. Damit ist auch klar, wie ich auf den Anhänger gekommen bin. Im Internet exsistiert keine einzige Zeichnung, jedoch habe ich eine Zeichnung in einem Buch über die italiensiche Panzerwaffe gefunden. So waren die Konstruktion und die Abmessungen nicht so schwer, lediglich wegen den Mindest-Druckstärken musste ich ein paar Kompromisse eingehen. Ich habe meine Modelle in schwarz lackiert, auf den wenigen Fotos, die ich gefunden hatte, sieht man ihn in einer dunklen Farbe. Damit die Druckkosten nicht zu teuer werden, habe ich gleich ein Set mit 2 Anhängern gemacht. Anderer Masstab gewünscht? Kein Problem, einfach melden.

I have not presented the trailer yet. The original was used by the Italian army to transport the M13 tanks. It was often pulled by the Lancia 3 Ro. So it is clear how I got the trailer. There is no drawing on the internet, but I found a drawing in a book about the Italian tank weapon. So the construction and the dimensions were not so difficult, only because of the minimum pressure thicknesses I had to make some compromises. I painted my models in black, on the few photos I found you can see him in a dark color. To keep the printing costs down, I made a set of 2 trailers right away. Other scale desired? Gestern habe ich die Arbeiten an meinem Sturmboottransporter fertig gestellt. Aktuell wird es kein Diorama dazu geben, jedoch habe ich was Schönes gefunden, um das Schiff doch im "Wasser" darzustellen. Das Modell wird nur in 1/144 kommen, die anderen Masstäbe werden wohl zu teuer werden.

Die Montage der Transportgeschirre ist etwas knifflig, bitte hier einfach unter den Links im alten Blog-Beitrag schauen. Die Bemalung ist analog zu dem, was ich in dem Video gesehen habe, weshalb mich mich für ein helles Grau entschieden hatte.

Assault boat transporter in 1/144, Operation Sea Lion

Yesterday I finished the work on my assault boat transporter. Currently there will be no diorama for it, but I found something nice to show the ship in "water" after all. The model will only come in 1/144, the other scales will probably be too expensive.

The assembly of the transport harnesses is a bit tricky, please just check here under the links in the old blog post. The painting is analogous to what I saw in the video, which is why I decided to go with a light gray.

16/52 kurzes Update, Neuheiten stehen vor der Tür

Neuheiten Sommer 2023

In den letzten Wochen war hier ja eher Funkstille. Wobei die Ruhe trügt. Einerseits bekam ich letzte Woche endlich meine Lieferung mit den Neuheiten von Shapeways, zum anderen bin ich schon wieder an neuen Modellen. 

Die Funkstille hatte verschiedene Gründe, der Garten rief und da die Temperaturen mittlerweile sehr angenehm sind, musste ich doch den Kampf gegen Unkraut und Schnecken aufnehmen. Dann kamen noch ein paar ungeplante private und berufliche Herausforderungen dazu und schon flog die Zeit nur so dahin. Aber ich gelobe Besserung. Der Anfang machen zwei Fotos. Der Sturmboottransporter ist auf der Werft und wartet auf die Finalisierung. Ich muss noch verschiedene Details anmalen und die Sturmboote ergänzen, doch dann ist mein neuer Exot fertig. Weiter habe ich noch zwei neue Radargeräte auf dem Basteltisch, die waren auch sehr selten und kamen erst zum Ende des Krieges zum Einsatz. Auch fertig aber noch nicht angemalt ist der Mercedes L 10000, dies war ein Wunsch eines guten Kunden. Dann kommt noch ein Laffy Tankwagen, wie er auch von der Wehrmacht benutzt wurde. Zum Schluss habe ich noch einen Tankanhänger des DAK (Deutsches Afrikakorps), der entstand eher zufällig, dies war wohl ein Umbau im Feld. Aber ich habe ein Foto, also kein Phantasieprodukt. 

Der Tankanhänger kommt als Doppelpack zusammen mit einer Wasserstelle.

News Summer 2023

In the last few weeks, there has been rather radio silence here. But the silence is deceptive. On the one hand, I finally got last week my delivery with the novelties of Shapeways, on the other hand, I'm already back to new models. The radio silence had several reasons, the garden called and since the temperatures are now very pleasant, I had to take up the fight against weeds and snails. Then there were some unplanned private and professional challenges and time flew by. But I vow to do better. The beginning is made by two photos. The assault boat transporter is at the shipyard waiting for finalization. I still have to paint some details and add the assault boats, but then my new exotic is ready. Further I have two new radars on the tinkering table, they were also very rare and came into use only at the end of the war. Also finished but not yet painted is the Mercedes L 10000, this was a wish of a good customer. Then comes a Laffy tanker, as it was also used by the Wehrmacht. Finally I have a tank trailer of the DAK (Deutsches Afrikakorps), this was made rather by accident, this was probably a con

version in the field. But I have a photo, so no fantasy product. The tank trailer comes as a double pack together with a water point. More soon.
