New old tanks from Dragon 41/52

Dragon has released a set with some new "old" tanks in new boxes. Nothing special, still the old designs just as sets to assemble them. Interesting, the Jagdpanther and the panther are missing, even these were some of the first sets, Dragon had published.  There is one small surprise inside the box. Two paper sheets to build a small town scenery as a small diorama. Next they will publish the Leopold railway gun gain.

Es gibt ein neues Set von Dragon mit zehn alten Panzermodellen. Eben alles bereits vorhandene Modelle, jedoch als Bausatz und zum selbst Bemalen. die einzige Besonderheit sind 2 Papierbögen für ein kleines Diorama. Diese sind beidseitig bedruckt, Vorderseite die Grundfläche und auf der Rückseite 2 Hausruinen zum Ausschneiden. Als Nächstes wird Dragon auf den Leopold, das Eisenbahngeschütz wieder auflegen, wohl auch als Doppelpackung, aber keine neue Lackierung.

Infanterietransporter in Finnland 40/52

From the Finnish WWII Archive I found several pictures with naval themes. As I had two Infanterietransport ships unfinished on my bench, I decided to build again a new diorama. So this was diorama number 6 I have started. The good news is, that I finished this diorama and even added some soldiers to show a bit action on the diorama. The small house is a laser cut kit I bought on the internet. The rest is either 3D printed or handmade. Finally one one ship made it on the diorama.

Deutsche Version

Das Schiff habe ich bereits in 2 Versionen gedruckt, aber bisher noch nicht die Muße gefunden, es fertig anzumalen und in ein Diorama einzubauen. Im Laufe der letzten Wochen hat mich aber dann doch der Ehrgeiz gepackt, mal einige der angefangenen Dioramen auch fertig zustellen. Also habe ich schnell noch ein paar Wehrmachtssoldaten und Matrosen fettig angemalt und mit diversen Kleinteilen alles verfeinert. Das Haus ist übrigens eine Premiere, es ist mein erster Lasercut-Bausatz, den ich günstig im Internet ersteigert hatte.

Today I present an armored Russian train, actually it is a locomotive and tender. The second version is the same set, but this time as an exploded, destroyed version.
The original train saw action with the red army and as a "Beute" with the German Wehrmacht.
I painted both versions in black, but I believe the Russians used dark green as well.

Die Idee hatte ich schon länger. Eine russische Panzerlokomotive, die dann auch gleich als Beutestück bei der Reichsbahn im Einsatz wäre. Nach etwas Suchen fand ich eine gute Zeichnung als Vorlage. Die zweite  Version ist einfach das gleiche Modell, jedoch schon mit Zerstörungen. Leider klappt es bei mir mit dem Watte färben noch nicht so recht, aber auf dem Foto sieht die Explosion schon recht gut aus

English version

During WWII the Finish Army fought together with Germany against Russia. To support the Finish Navy, the Germans delivered several MALs (Marine Artillery Leichter) to Finland. 
Some years ago, I had designed this model and got it 3D printed. Quickly I had to realize, that the dimensions were not 100% correct. With the publishing of the Finish WWII picture archive I got the wonderful opportunity to find a lot of pictures of these MALs in Finish service. Best of all, the Finish photographer took pictures during the time, the Germans completed the ships in Finland and during the training of the crews. With all these details it was much easier to redesign the ship again. If you want, on my old never completed Homepage, I show some pictures of the old version.
The design was done, printing no problem and next was the painting. Actually you need mostly two colors, wood for the platform and a dark grey for the ship. After painting all details and the adding them to the ship, it is ready to be used.

Während des 2. Weltkrieges kämpfte Finnland an der Seite Deutschlands gegen die Russen. Deshalb bekam die finnische Marine aus Deutschland mehrere Marineartillerieleichter geliefert. Vor ein oder zwei Jahren hat Finnland grosse Fotobestände online gestellt. Darunter befanden sich auch Unmengen von Fotos aus dem 2. Weltkrieg. So fand ich mit Hilfe des Forums Marinearchiv auch ganz viele Fotos mit Detials dieses doch recht unbekannten Schiffstyps.
Endlich habe ich auch mal die Musse gefunden, mein vor Jahren gebautes Modell richtig umzusetzen. Wer sich das antun will und mal sehen will, wie Modelle von mir zum Anfang aussahen, kann auf meiner nie fertig gestellten Homepage mal schauen.Schnell hatte ich beim ersten Modell festgestellt, dass die Breite und die Aufbauten irgendwie nicht richtig zusammen passten. Leider blieb es bei dieser Erkenntnis und ich hatte nie die Zeit gefunden, es von Grund auf richtig umzusetzen. Das ist jetzt Geschichte. Da ich bereits einige Schiffe gezeichnet hatte, die Geschütze als 3D Zeichnung besass, ging es nur noch darum, alle richtig zu kombinieren und die Abmessungen korrekt in 1/144 zu bringen.
Alles erledigt und fertig!
Die Bemalung ging auch recht schnell, Holz und die Aufbauten in einem dunklen grau, bessere Farbangaben hatte ich keine gefunden. Dann noch die ganzen Details angeklebt und schon kann das Schiff zu Wasser gelassen werden.

WIP 1/144 German Bunkerbahn new diorama 37/52

During WWII nearly every country had bunkers. Even the USA built several bunkers, for example around San Francisco you could still visit some of them. In Europe France had the Maginot line to protect their country against Germany. After the occupation of France the Germans used several bunker complexes to store or to produce inside parts. In several of them the Wehrmacht produced parts for their U-Boots. The bigger fortifications had inside narrow gauge trains to transport ammunition and the crew.
My new diorama shows the entrance of one of the French fortifications during the German occupation. All bigger fortifications of the Maginot line had fortification entrances where they brought the ammunition inside the complex. So this is my idea, an scenario at the entrance of such a overage. The German Wunderwaffe will most probably disappear before the final version. 
About the built:
The basement is a round plate, mountain and the bunker itself is made out of foam. The entrance doors are 3D printed. As the narrow gauge train will go from outside into the bunker, I decided to paint the tracks on the ground. The turn table is simply a piece of paper. Most of the rest is paint and paper. Only the train and all other parts for the train are 3D printed. Most of the design is older; I only updated the design and put everything together in one set.

Deutsche Version

Während des zweiten Wletkrieges hat ja fast jedes Land Bunker gebaut. Selbst die Griechen hatten mit der Metaxa Linie eine Befestigungslinie. In Frankreich gab es die Maginot Line. Wer sich für die Befestigungen rund um San Francisco interessiert, ich habe hier mal ein paar Bunker vorgestellt, die ich selbst besichtigt hatte.

Während der Besetzung Frankreichs durch die Wehrmacht, wurden viele der grösseren Werke als Produktionsstätten benutzt. Von Flugzeugteilen bis hin zu Teilen für die U-Boot-Flotte wurde in dne Bunkern produziert und dann zur Weiterverarbeitung nach Deutschland gebracht. Dies ist auch die Ausgangslage meines Dioramas.
Ein französischer Bunkerkomplex, mit einem grossen Eingang. die Deutschen benutzen die Schmallspurbahn um Munition in das Werk zu bringen.

Zum Bau:
Die Grundplatte ist eine knapp 20 cm runde Korkplatte. Der Bunker und die Felsenformation habe ich aus Styrodor herausgeschnitten. Die Gittertüren sind 3D gedruckt, die Schienen nur aufgemalt. Die Drehscheibe wird wahrscheinlich in der finalen Version nicht mehr dabei sein. In den nächsten Tagen werden dann noch weitere Details folgen.

1/144 Luftwaffe Tankspritze Ts-2.5 auf Henschel 33 36/52

More or less exactly one year ago, I wrote the first time about the Henschel fire engine fir the German Luftwaffe. So what happened? The design was done but then Shapeways showed me that the drawing was not useable. Several parts missed after the upload. I spent some weeks but failed.
Last month I started again from scratch. With some new technics I have learnt in the meantime I was able to upload the model in les than two weeks. Shapeways supported me with printing in the first attempt and now I have the Henschel Tankkraftspritze!
With my next order, I will get the closed version too.

Deutsche Version

Vor fast genau einem Jahr stellte ich die Henschel Tankkraftspritze zum ersten Mal vor. 

Als ich dann die Zeichnung hochlud, zeigte es sich schnell, dass mit der Zeichnung kein Blumentopf zu gewinnen wäre. Es fehlten ganze Baugruppen und egal was ich probierte, es ging nicht. Ziemlich frustriert hatte ich dann es sein lassen und mit anderen Sachen weiter gemacht. Vor knapp einem Monat hatte ich dann erst den Henschel LKW gezeichnet und von Grund auf neu die Feuerwehr gezeichnet. Um ein paar Ideen schlauer, wAr ich nach zwei Wochen fertig. Hochladen und bestellen, fertig, keine Reklamationen von Shapeways.

Mit der nächsten Bestellung kommt dann auch die geschlossene Version der Tankkraftspritze.

Weitere Modelle um mal eine komplette  Flughafenfeuerwehr darstellen zu können, werden folgen.

Faun dumper Faun Kipper L 910 35/52

While I stuck a bit with several designs and got nothing finished,I found time to paint my new Faun dumper, the Faun L910.
On all pictures I saw the Faun dumper in a nice yellow color. As I do not had yellow and after some bad experience with red color, I decided to go with a light yellow. Some hours later the frame and wheels and the dumper is ready to use.
At the moment I think about a nice caterpillar or something else what would fit to the Faun, so if you have any ideas, feel free to leave a comment.

Deutsche Version

Den Faun Kipper hatte ich ja vor ein paar Wochen bekommen. Da ich aber aktuell mit fast allen Projekten irgenwie hänge und nicht so richtig vorankomme, wollte ich mal wieder was entspanntes und Schönes machen. Drum, und auch um mal wieder was zeigen zu können, habe ich den Faun L910 Kipper angemalt. Auf den wenigen Fotos wird er immer in einem satten gelb dargestellt. So ein kräftiges Gelb hatte ich nicht. Außerdem hatte ich mir gerade ein Modell mit roter Farbe ziemlich versaut. Statt einem satten Rot kam irgendwie etwas an rot erinnerndes raus. Schließlich habe ich einen etwas weniger intensiven Gelbton gewählt und nach 30 min war das ganze Modell schon angemalt. Wenig später noch die Räder und das Fahrwerk und fertig ist ein neues Modell. Im Moment überlege ich noch für einen schönen Bagger oder was ähnliches, wer also eine entsprechende Idee hat, einfach einen Kommentar hinterlassen.
