Das Modell entstand durch eine Anfrage. Die hatte mir mal wieder gezeigt, dass ich mich mit den deutschen Halbketten-Fahrzeugen viel zu wenig auskenne. Das Sd.Kfz. 7 sagte mir was und natürlich der Famo, auch Sd.kfz 9 genannt. Aber alles andere ist eher nicht mein Gebiet. Da sich die Pionier- und die Artillerie-Version nur wenig voneinander unterschieden haben, wurden beide Modelle umgesetzt. So kommen also dem-nächst 2 neue Kettenfahrzeuge, beide auch mit Plane. Für die Artillerieausführung bin ich auch noch an einem besonderen Anhänger, aber die Beladung des Anhängers bereitet mir noch ein paar schlaflose Nächte. Ich spreche von dem Biber U-Boot, welches noch nicht ganz so will, wie es soll. Der Anhänger ist dagegen schon fast fertig. Das U-Boot sieht zwar gut aus, würde aktuell aber nicht gedruckt werden, da es noch zuviele Löcher in der Aussenhülle gibt. Da sind noch ein paar Stunden Arbeit für mich drin.

The model was created by a request. It showed me again that I know too little about the German half-track vehicles. The Sd.Kfz. 7 told me something and of course the Famo, also called Sd.kfz 9. But everything else is rather not my area. Since the pioneer and the artillery version differed only a little, both models were converted. So there will be 2 new tracked vehicles soon, both also with canvas cover. For the artillery version I am also still working on a special trailer, but the loading of the trailer still gives me a few sleepless nights. I'm talking about the Beaver submarine, which doesn't quite want it yet. The trailer, on the other hand, is almost finished. The submarine looks good, but would not be printed at the moment, because there are still too many holes in the outer shell. There are still a few hours of work left for me.

Diese Woche habe ich spontan mal wieder mit einem neuen Diorama angefangen. Von meinem letzten Druck hatte ich noch das Modell des Westwall-Bunkers, des Panzerwerks Merzig übrig. Dieses wollte ich gerne in einem kleinen Diorama darstellen. Das Diorama war in wenigen Tagen fertig, ich habe diesesmal Fotos von allen wichtigen Schritten gemacht und ein kurzes Video daraus geschnitten.

This week I spontaneously started a new diorama. From my last print I still had the model of the Westwall Bunker, the Panzerwerk Merzig. I wanted to represent this in a small diorama. The diorama was ready in a few days, I took photos of all the important steps this time and cut a short video from it.

Ein Mörser auf Reisen, der Skoda M16 in Einzelteilen

Den österreichischen Mörser M16 als Fertigmodell habe ich ja schon fertig und vorgestellt (siehe hier). Die passende Zugmaschine, den Tatra T25 habe ich auch fertig und im 2. Anlauf wurde er von Shapeways auch richtig gedruckt. In den letzten Tagen habe ich mich daran gemacht und den Mörser auch als Reiseunternehmen zu zeichnen. Der ganze Mörser wurde in 4 Einheiten verladen. Die Grundplatte, das Rohr, ein Anhänger für die Munition und die Lafette. Als Zugfahrzeuge kamen die oben genannten Tatra zum Einsatz, es gibt aber auch Fotos, die verschiedene Halbkettenfahrzeuge zeigen. Dabei hatte cih dann aml wieder ein paar Herausforderungen zu meistern, da ja alles druckbar und doch möglichst dicht ans Original heranreichen sollte.

Mit etwas Hilfe von Gerhard aus Wien (nochmals vielen Dank!), konnte ich auch genaue Abmessungen für die Anhänger in Erfahrung bringen. Alle Anhänger waren im Grundaufbau gleich und untereinander auch austauschbar. Die Anhänger hatten die folgenden Ladungen zu tragen:

• - Anhänger für die Munition
• - Rohrwagen
• - Anhänger für die Bettung
• - Anhänger für die Lafette

Hier nun mal der aktuelle Stand der Umsetzung. Der Rohrwagen ist bis auf Kleinigkeiten fertig, mit den beiden Sitzen am Ende der Anhänger bin ich noch am überlegen, was am besten aussieht. Die Teile müssen auch noch so angeordnet werden, dass man die Anhänger und die Beladung auch seperat anmalen und nutzen kann. Allerdings wird es nicht möglich sein, mit den Einzelteilen auch einen kompetten Mörser wieder darstellen zu können. Hier musste ich einige Kompromisse eingehen.

Der Rohrwagen, hier fehlen noch ein paar Kleinigkeiten, die Stahlräder sind aber schon fertig und werden den Anhängern ein seltsames altertümliches Aussehen verleihen.

A mortar on the road, the Skoda M16 in parts

I have already finished and presented the Austrian mortar M16 as a finished model (here). The matching tractor, the Tatra T25 I have also finished and in the 2nd attempt it was also printed correctly by Shapeways. In the last days I made myself to it and to draw the mortar also as a travel company. The whole mortar was loaded in 4 units. The base plate, the barrel, a trailer for the ammunition and the gun carriage. As towing vehicles the above mentioned Tatra were used, but there are also photos showing different half-track vehicles. Again, I had to master a few challenges, because everything should be printable and as close as possible to the original.

With some help from Gerhard from Vienna (thanks again!), I was able to get exact dimensions for the trailers. All trailers had the same basic design and were interchangeable. The trailers had to carry the following loads:

- Trailer for ammunition

- pipe wagon

- Trailer for the bedding

- Trailer for the gun carriage

Here is the current state of the realization. The tube carriage is finished except for some small things, with the two seats at the end of the trailers I am still thinking about what looks best. The parts still have to be arranged so that the trailers and the loading can be painted and used separately. However, it will not be possible to reproduce a complete mortar with the individual parts. Here I had to make some compromises.

Den Culemeyer Anhänger habe ich komplett überarbeitet und die Abmessungen leicht angepasst. Auch wenn die Beladung es verbirgt, die Anhänger haben ein schöneres Innenleben bekommen und werden wohl auch bald ohne Beladung kommen.

Der Vidalwagen wurde zum Transport der V2 benutzt. Der sog. Meiler Wagen diente zum Aufrichten und Starten der V2 Rakete. Zum Transport wurde er nie benutzt. Die Umsetzung auf die Anhänger erfolgte immer mit dem Fries oder auch Strabokran genannten mobilen Kran.

The Vidal trailer was used to transport the V2. The so-called Meiler trailer was used for erecting and launching the V2 rocket. It was never used for transport. The transfer to the trailers was always done with the mobile crane called Fries or Strabokran.

13/52 Grubenbahn und weitere Schmalspurlokomotiven

 Weitere Heereslokomotiven und eine komplette Grubenbahn, alles in 1/144

Für die Freunde der Eisenbahn und der Schmalspurbahnen gibt es diesen Monat echt viele Neuheiten. Irgendwie hatte ich Lust und habe mit dem Thema gleich noch weiter gemacht. Meine beiden neuen Lokomotiven sind die Deutz OMZ 122 (die brauche ich zum Ziehen von etwas sehr langem, was dann in die Luft geht) und die HF 50 B. Die ist mehr so nebenbei entstanden. Dann gibt es dazu auch noch ein paar Varianten und einen komplett neuen Typ Anhänger für die Schmalspurbahnen, eine Grubenlohre.

Hier mal ein paar Fotos der zumeist noch nicht angemalten Modelle.

More army locomotives and a complete mine railroad, all in 1/144

For the friends of railroads and narrow gauge railroads there are really a lot of new items this month. Somehow I felt like it and continued with the theme right away. My two new locomotives are the Deutz OMZ 122 (which I need to pull something very long, which then goes into the air) and the HF 50 B. This one was built more or less on the side. Then there are also a few variants and a completely new type of trailer for the narrow gauge railroads, a Grubenlohre.

Above are some photos of the mostly not yet painted models.

Some models are also not yet cleaned from the connecting bars.

Here are the new sets, some of them I will offer in the next days also in other scales.

Das Modell als solches habe ich ja schon vorgestellt. Seit ein paar Wochen liegt es auch als Druck auf meinem Basteltisch und wurde immer wieder erfolgreich von rechts nach links geschoben. Die Tage habe ich mich dann mal hingesetzt und angefangen das Modell anzumalen. Eigentlich ging das ganz schnell, grosse Flächen und nur 2 oder 3 Farben. Jetzt geht es weiter mit den Details und den Zubehörteilen.

Zunächst aber mal hier der aktuelle Zwischenstand:

Das Sturmboot ist schon fertig, die Rampe ein Stück zu lang,

Wie bei so ziemlich allen meinen Schiffen fehlt auch hier die Reling. Das liegt daran, dass die beim Drucken fast immer bricht, oder aber so dick wird, dass es unansehlich wird. Man könnte natürlich mit Faden oder Gitarrendraht hier was probieren, doch oft bin ich dann dafür einfach zu faul. Was ich noch testen muss, ist die Positionierung der beiden Schiffsgeschütze. Hierzu habe ich mir etwas einfallen lassen, enînen Adapter, der entweder als Bolzen zur Befestigung der Geschütze dient, oder umgedreht das Loch auf der Ladefläche verdeckt. Ganz so wie es im Original war. Die wenigen Fotos, die es von den Original Schiffen gibt, zeigen diese übrigens alle ohne die Geschütze. Wahrscheinlich war der Transportraum viel wichtiger als eine Fähre mit 2 Geschützen.

 Pioneer landing craft 43 in 1/144

I have already presented the model as such. For a few weeks it has been lying on my desk as a print and has been successfully moved from right to left. The days I sat down and started to paint the model. Actually, it went quite fast, large areas and only 2 or 3 colors. Now it goes on with the details and the accessories.

But first above is the current status.

As with pretty much all my ships, the railing is missing. This is because it almost always breaks during printing, or becomes so thick that it becomes unsightly. You could of course try something with thread or guitar wire here, but often I'm just too lazy for that. What I still have to test is the positioning of the two ship's guns. For this I came up with something, an adapter, which either serves as a bolt for mounting the guns, or upside down covers the hole on the loading area. Just like it was in the original. By the way, the few photos that exist of the original ships show them all without the guns. Probably the transport space was much more important than a ferry with 2 guns.

Das Modell hatte ich schon Anfang des Jahres gezeichnet, dann aber wegen eines dummen Fehlers wieder auf die Seite gelegt. Jetzt ist es fertig und auch schon beim Druck. Der Mörser war ursprünglich im 1. WK entwickelt und eingesetzt worden. Aber er muss wohl so gut gewesen sein, dass die deutsche Wehrmacht alle vorhandenen Exemplare (eins sogar aus einem österreichischen Museum) wieder aktivierte. Meine Version ist die M16, eine verbesserte Version, die Skoda nach vielen Fronterfahrungen dann zum Schluss des 1. Weltkrieges umgesetzt hatte. Aktuell kommt das Modell ohne bewegliche Teile und auch nur als reines Standmodell. Mal sehen, wenn ich den Druck in den Händen habe, werde ich das Rohr doch noch beweglich gestalten. Munition und einen Handwagen finden sich im Innenraum des Kastens.

Ein Diorama im Masstab 1/35 gibt es hier und hier und mehr über das Original findet man hier oder auch hier. Viele Einsatzfotos und andere Details gibt es hier zu sehen.

Das Modell gibt es zwar schon bei Shapeways, auch in 1/144, aber doch recht einfach gehalten und nur als Vollmodell. Ich habe mir da doch die Mühe gemacht und das Modell so dünn wie möglich zu drucken. Ausserdem wird es dann noch eine Fortsetzung geben, zusammen mit dem Tatra T25 will ich das Modell in seine Einzelteile zerlegt und auf den dazu gehörenden Anhängern verlastet, darstellen. wie das in etwas aussehen soll, kann man auf den folgenden Seiten erkennen:

Skoda mortar M16 in 1/144

I had already drawn this model at the beginning of the year, but put it aside because of a stupid mistake. Now it is finished and ready for printing. The mortar was originally developed and used in WW1. But it must have been so good that the German Wehrmacht reactivated all existing examples (one even from an Austrian museum). My version is the M16, an improved version that Skoda had then implemented at the end of WW1 after much front line experience. Currently the model comes without moving parts and also only as a pure standing model. Let's see, when I have the print in my hands, I will make the barrel movable after all. Ammunition and a handcart can be found inside the box.

A 1/35 scale diorama is available here and more about the original can be found also here. Many photos and other details can be seen here.

The model is already available at Shapeways, also in 1/144, but quite simple and only as a full model. I took the trouble to print the model as thin as possible. In addition, there will be a continuation, together with the Tatra T25 I want to show the model disassembled into its individual parts and loaded on the corresponding trailers. How this should look in something, you can see on the following pages:
